    Description

Today we're offering a fantastic, cedar rattle circa mid-1900's.
It's hand-carved of cedar wood and painted with red, black and white. It looks like a Shaman and wolves have been carved and decorated with red eyes and a feather. The eyes are not glass as they are not cold to the touch but are probably some sort of plastic. They have been glued on. We do not know what bird the feather is from. The handle has been worn smooth in spots from use.
It measures approx. 12" tall. It's made from two halves with beads placed inside to produce the rattle.
It belongs to the Doran family of N.W. Washington who spent about 40 years or so assembling a (primarily) NW Native American collection here on the Olympic Peninsula. Along with Indian baskets, there are carvings, bead-work and various other artifacts that make up this wonderful collection. It is our privilege to be able to offer this collection to you on their behalf. So please save us to your favorite sellers list so that you'll be notified as we add new listings.
