World Class Collection.Described as "a fiction", undoubtedly the most intimate biography of Andy Warhol ever created. Lou and John present with such brevity, a time capsule honoring the man, captured in a near perfect format for reflecting his life.
Performed live in its entirety only 7 times (counting the 2 original, almost finished works at St. Anne's Warehouse in New York City, January 1989).
Those rough ones were arguably the finest shows, followed by the 3 finished productions in late '89, plus one filmed at the same time without an audience for the laserdisc / VHS. Some of the later boot transfers to DVD are also of high quality.
The Warhol exposition at the Cartier Fondation in Paris of June 1990 became an historic event with the reformation of the Velvets performing an epic version of Heroin. Lou and John, originally scheduled, warmed up with a couple signature Songs from Drella. All of these recordings are found in various forms of the collection. Red / Black Heroin copies, and the ultra rare day glo Paris 1990 album.
Later that summer would be the the final time they would collaborate performing the entire cycle in Tokyo, Japan, August 6, 1990. Unfortunately, this had nowhere near the impact of the initial project. Although, the media build up in Japan did yield some fabulous advertising print and graphics, especially this poster of Lou, combining a couple earlier nights of his New York tour, sorry John.
Yes, I'm rushing this listing without an itemized list, but the photos should give a good idea of the vast range from common vinyl to ultra rare boots and a presentation box set. Occasionally wandering into asdociated Warhol, and even an extremely rare Metal Machine Music bluray SIGNED by Lou, from England as a promo, maybe a half dozen created, plastic wrapper lifted, and he signed directly on the case. Very cool.
Centerpiece of the collection, most likely worth the asking price alone, an original invitation to the early January 1989 shows autographed by BOTH Lou and John.
